Introduction

[edit]

This guide is to help players with the blacksmithing skill, one of the hardest skill in the game to train. Blacksmithing is a very resource intensive skill to train, so you will need to find a way to acquire all of your materials.

Before Starting

[edit]

Before you start training blacksmithing, you will need to be able to gather and produce large amount of high level materials. It is highly recommended to reach Rank 1 in the following skills:

Other useful things to have:

  • Partners for double gathering resources
    • At least one Butler in order to purchase Valencia and Dustin manuals without having to visit Fleta
  • Material Pouches or the inventory space to hold all your supplies and crafted items
  • 270+ Dexterity

The biggest bottleneck for the skill are arguably leathers. See Leather Gathering Guide for details.

Average material cost for each rank can be found here

Disclaimer: This guide will not explain how to get supplies used for training.

Information

[edit]
Types of Training Requirements
Great Successes
  • A possible result when successfully crafting items that are at least 2 ranks higher than your skill rank.
Successes
  • Successfully crafting an item that is no more than one rank under your skill rank.
Fails
  • Failed an attempt to craft an item
  • Successfully crafting an item that is two or more ranks below your skill rank.
Completion
  • Any equipment that is finished counts as a completion, regardless of manual rank. This is important at higher ranks!

Note: Every training requirement gets a 4x multiplier (8x during 2x events).

Success rate:
Sucesss Rate is affected by three factors:

  • Blacksmithing Rank
    • Base success rate of a manual is determined by rank difference between your skill rank and the manual rank.
  • Production Mastery Rank
    • Each rank of production mastery adds 1% to your overall success rate, up to a total bonus of 15%. For this guide, success chance used below will be calculated using Rank 1 production.
  • Monday Bonus Effect
    • Monday increases the success rate of manuals by roughly 5% of your base success (rounded to the nearest whole number)
Rank Difference Success % (Monday %)
+8 Rank 99% (99%)
+7 Rank 98% (99%)
+6 Rank 96% (98%)
+5 Rank 94% (96%)
+4 Rank 92% (95%)
+3 Rank 89% (92%)
+2 Rank 87% (90%)
+1 Rank 86% (89%)
0 Rank 85% (88%)
-1 Rank 69% (73%)
-2 Rank 54% (58%)
-3 Rank 42% (45%)
-4 Rank 34% (36%)
-5 Rank 27% (29%)
-6 Rank 22% (23%)
-7 Rank 20% (20%)
-8 Rank 18% (18%)
  • Note: If you have not unlocked the ability to smith certain types of gear, your success rate is 0% regardless of manual rank.

Great Successes:

  • Monday bonus effect increases the chance of great successes.
  • Dexterity improves the chance of getting great successes, up to a maximum of 270 Dexterity.

Progress Rate:
The base progress rate for a manual can be found on the Blacksmithing Manuals page.

  • Rainy Weather increases completion rate of most manuals by 10% regardless of rank. See Weather Forecast for rain schedule of Bangor, Filia, and Vales.
  • In production parties, you will gain a flat 1% bonus completion rate for each party member that have at least rank F blacksmithing.
  • Progress on an item can be lost if you get a very poor result on your craft.

Notes

[edit]

It is possible to train your early ranks by completing blacksmithing part-time jobs, however this guide will not include them as part of your skill training.

A lot of Blacksmithing Manuals on aura are different to their live counterpart, where certain manuals have different ranking and requires different materials to make. Because of this, the guide is only applicable for the Auranogi server.

Most manuals used in the guide can be purchased from Gilmore, Taunes, Fleta, and your Butler unless stated otherwise.

If possible, it's recommended to save materials for a 2x event to reduce amount of materials needed.

Blacksmithing Training Potion is recommended for ranks 6 and above. Strongly recommended at rank 3 and onwards.

Where to Obtain

Blacksmithing Training Potion

I will mention that the Blacksmithing Production Boost Potion exists, but it's not very useful for the goal of ranking the skill.

While it is possible to train this rank without requiring a great success or fail, there are currently no way to obtain any boot manuals under rank 9.

You have two different options for this rank, both which can be purchased from Gilmore. Spika Silver Plate Boots is the way to go, as leather is not required. If you do have an abundance of cheap leather, Greaves are a viable way to train.

Armor:

At this rank, a minimun of 20 great success for armor is required to advance. The lowest rank manual that can fulfill this would be the the Valencia Armor (Giant) at Rank 6. This manual can be purchased from Fleta or your Butler.

The best approach to this would be to start with trying for great successes, as you will gain normal success training along the way. If one is unlucky, it is possible to complete the success requirements before reaching the required great successes, so it is recommended to make these first.

Completing the armor is not very feasible, however, as they require many Siren's Wing Mask to finish. You'll have to go back to Light Melka or Scale Armor to finish the completion training.

Weapon:

Armor:

The armor requirements are exactly the same as the previous rank, so we will follow the same strategy. Make Valencia Armor (Giant) until your reach your 20 great successes, then complete the rest of the armor requirement with Light Melka or Scale Armor. The success rates for these armor will be higher, making this rank easier to train.

Armor:

A minimum of 20 great success for armor to advance. Valencia Armor (Giant) is no longer enough for this requirement, so we will be switching to Valencia Armor (Male). This manual can be purchased from Fleta or your Butler. Make Valencia Armor (Male) until 20 great successes, then complete the rest of the armor requirement with Light Melka or Scale Armor.
Note: This will be the last rank where Light Melka/Scale Armor contributes to successful craft!.

Helmet:

Your main priority should be making Norman Warrior Helmets, with next best being Graceful Helmet, as the materials needed for each attempt is pretty easy to get compared to other helmet manuals of this tier. These manual are a possible reward from the Fishing Boat treasure chests.

If you cannot get your hands on these manuals, Pelican Protector are an alternative that can be purchased from Gilmore. However, this method is not recommended as fine leathers are required to craft it.

  • Finishing Graceful Helmet or Pelican Protector would be easier if you've gone that route over Norman Warrior Helmet.

For these ranks, the amount of Iron Ingots and Fine/Finest Leathers required takes another leap in quantity. If you have a good amount of Blacksmithing Training Potions saved up, now would be a good place to start using them, otherwise save them for Ranks 3 and 2.

Armor:

Valencia Armor (Male) will not longer give great successes, so we will be switching to Valencia Armor (Female). This manual can be purchased from Fleta or your Butler.
A minimum of 20 great success is required to advance yet again, but this time you have a choice on how you would like to go about it:

  • Consistant: follow the previous ranks strategy and make Valencia Armor (Female) until 20 great success, then finish the rest of the success requirements using Valencia Armor (Giant).
  • Gamble: Make Valencia Armor (Female) until you fully complete great success requirements then switch to Valencia Armor (Giant), or until the great success and success trainings total 50 points.

Both Valencia Armor require fine or finest leather straps to craft, so the amount of resources needed is similar. Because of the amount of RNG is involved, how a player wishes to approach this may differ.

Basil Gimlet Armor is one of two manuals that provide a great success at this rank and beyond. We will be making this armor over Dustin Armor, as it is lower rank and requires about a quarter less amount of leathers.

Armor:

At this rank, there are only two armors left that can give great success training. Basil Gimlet Armor can be purchased from Gilmore, while Dustin Silver Knight Armor manual can be purchased from Fleta or your Butler. Although you need a minumum of 20 great sucess to advance this rank, it is preferable to try to complete your great success this rank.

This is due to the availability of Basil Gimlet Armor, which requires low amount of leathers in exchanging for needing higher tier ingots. The amount of leather saved compared to making Dustin Armor, and the chances of getting great success while having similar leather requirements as Valencia Armor, makes Basil Armor your main focus of this rank.

Once your great success are fulfilled, you can choose to stick with Basil Gimlet Armor or switch to making Valencia Armor (M) for the rest of your success requirements. As previous ranks, finish your completion training using light melka or scale armor.

Weapon/Tool:

There are many high ranked weapons that can be made for training, but we will be focusing on three that can be purchased fron NPCs. First two are Great Swords and Warrior axe, which can be purchased from Taunes. Third is Battle Hammer, which can be purchased from Gilmore.

The recommended weapon for this rank is Great swords, which only require Iron Ingots and Copper Ingots to craft. Warrior Axe is good too, due to needing slightly less iron and copper in exchange for requiring some silver. Battle Hammers are not as good, but the materials needed are obtained differently, which can be a nice change of pace.

Armor:

The minimum amount of great successes needed to advance this rank jumped up to a whoppping 44 count. What makes this worst is the fact that only Dustin Silver Light Armor can fulfill this requirement, and boy will this eat up a lot of leathers.

Once that is completed, you can choose to complete your remaining successes making Basil Gimlet Armor or Valencia Armor (F). Finish your completion training using light melka or scale armor per usual.

Weapon/Tool:

Vales Great Sword would be the preferred method for this rank, but another option available is the Pig Ladle. The majority of the resource required for this are mythril material, and is a good alternative if you have leftovers from making Basil Gimlet equipment. It is purchased from Glewyas's secret shop.

If you do not wish to go this route, there are a lot of high rank weapon manuals that can be obtained from Barri Dungeon and other higher difficulty dungeons. See table below for a list of high ranked weapon manuals and their drop location.

Make weeding hoe or sickle for finish requirements.

Light Melka.
Scale Armor.

In all seriousness, you can craft whatever you want at this point. If you saved your incomplete armors from previous ranks, now is the best time to use them. You can choose to speed through the training with melka and scale armor, or take your time and craft whatever you feel like!

Weapon/Tool:

At rank 1, it is possible to profit from making high ranked weapons, so you have freedom to make whatever you want for training. Pig Ladle is your choice if you want to speed through the training.

If you've saved your incomplete weapons from previous ranks, now is the best time to use them. If you want to speed through it, sickles and weeding hoes are the easiest thing to make.

Congratulations! You made it!
