Spirit Transfer

Spirit Transfer moves the spirit out of one Spirit Weapon and into another weapon, turning the old spirit weapon back into an ordinary weapon. The spirit will lose some stats if a Restorative Spirit Liqueur is not used.

Two variants exist:

• Spirit Transfer: Move the spirit to a new weapon of the same type, this can be performed by Tarlach or Berched.
• Spirit Memory Transfer: Move the spirit's stats into a different spirit, which can therefore be a different weapon type, chosen with the used Spirit Stone, this can be performed by Dorren.

Common requirements

The weapon you transfer into must:

• Have 100% proficiency.
• Be unmodified, no upgrades.
• Retain at least 80% of its original maximum durability.

On success the old spirit weapon reverts to a plain weapon (keeping its colors), the new weapon becomes the spirit weapon (taking on its own colors).

Memory (stat) loss

Unless the spirit is protected, a transfer normally lowers the spirit's stat levels. Protection is granted by using a Restorative Spirit Liqueur on the spirit before the transfer, a protected transfer loses no stats or exp on current stat progress, and the protection is consumed and does not carry to the new weapon.

Use a Restorative Spirit Liqueur on the spirit before either transfer to avoid all stat loss. This means using it via Ctrl+Clicking the item, or right-click -> Use. You'll see your weapon is protected as it will say "Protects abilities during Spirit Transfer" when hovering it, below its durability.

Type 1: Spirit Transfer (same weapon type)

Performed by Tarlach (Tir Chonaill) or Berched (Taillteann).

Unlock

The quest Spirit Transfer Magic is delivered by owl the moment you log in owning a spirit weapon.

Optional to complete, same-type transfer can be done with Berched in any case, but completion is required for Tarlach to be able to perform transfers, as well as to get the quest to perform different-type transfers.

1. Talk to Tarlach.
2. Talk to Aeira (Dunbarton bookstore).
3. Talk to Berched, he'll give you the Transfer book.
4. Bring the book back to Tarlach and you'll learn the Spirit Weapon Transfer keyword.

To perform the transfer without doing the quest, talk to Berched with the keyword Spirit Weapon's Contract first to get the Spirit Weapon Transfer keyword, then use it. Tarlach requires the quest to be completed (as he learns the process from Berched through the quest).

Steps

1. Speak to Tarlach or Berched and choose the Spirit Weapon Transfer keyword.
2. Confirm, and the NPC will verify your materials.
3. Select the new weapon (only same-type weapons are offered).
4. Read the warnings and confirm. If the spirit is protected you'll get a confirmation that no stat loss will happen. ("Your spirit has used the Restorative Spirit Liqueur and is in a protected state.")
5. Confirm "Ready" to complete the transfer. Materials are consumed.

Type 2: Spirit Memory Transfer (different weapon type)

Performed by Dorren (Taillteann). This "experiment" transfers the memory of your current spirit into a new spirit, your contract is canceled, you'll be able to name your new spirit, and choose a different weapon type by choosing a different type of stone.

Unlock

Complete the quest Spirit Memory Transfer Experiment. It is received automatically after completing the Spirit Transfer Magic quest described above.

1. Talk to Dorren.
2. Talk to Berched, he'll give you the book.
3. Bring the book back to Dorren.

Steps

1. Speak to Dorren and choose the Spirit Weapon Transfer keyword.
2. Dorren verifies your materials.
3. Select the Spirit Stone, this sets the new weapon type.
4. Select the destination weapon (filtered to the stone's type).
5. Read the warnings. If unprotected you may cancel here. If protected, memory transfers intact, Dorren will say "The Restorative Spirit Liqueur had an effect in this experiment too.".
6. Name the new spirit and confirm.

Additional effect (different-type only)

• The old spirit's Awakening skill and its associated title are removed, you can get the new type's skill by relogging.
